It's time to get writing! This year The South Zeal Limerick Competition will take place at the King’s Arms, on Tuesday 6th February, at 9pm (that is, after the watershed…). As ever, credit will be given for originality, audience response, rhythm and rhyme, overall style, and local references.
Entries to be submitted the King’s: please provide a copy of your limerick with your name attached, and a £1/limerick entry fee to be collected by the bar staff. All proceeds will go to Devon Air Ambulance.
Previous winners include Jane Eastman, Dave Goodwin, Nick Groom and Taff. On the night, all limericks will be performed by Mr Bill Murray & Friends in order to preserve anonymity. The winner will receive a bespoke trophy, crafted by Mr Dave Denford and to be retained for one year.
Whenever I’m up at the Kings
Bugger me if someone don’t sing
Tho’ they sing very nice
It’s not once or twice
They keep going til “Last Orders” ring
(Apologies – we no longer remember who wrote this one!)
